2015 website survey

An online survey of the ICOM Australia website was completed in May 2015. The aim of the survey was to gain an insight into current and past members use of the website, including their views about the design and navigation of the site.

Key findings

Respondents identified three main reasons they visit the site:

  • to renew or join ICOM Australia
  • for general information
  • for international museum news.

Most people found the site well presented, professional in appearance with just the right amount of content for their needs.

Most respondents preferred to access ICOM Australia content through the website and email bulletins.

Improvements

Respondents were prompted to consider which aspects of the website they might like to see improved. The responses were equally weighted for:

  • navigation
  • membership renewal
  • and visual design.

Outcome

The Executive Board has reviewed the results of the survey and confirmed its intention to migrate ICOM Australia's membership database to a new system by the end of 2016.

Members we can expect improvements, amongst other things, to online renewals. The new system will also allow continued tweaking of the existing website design and navigation. A complete redesign of the website is not planned at this stage.
