Activities

ICOM Australia is engaged in a range of national, regional and international activities. As a non-governmental, non-profit body, these activities include:

• professional cooperation and exchange
• dissemination of knowledge and raising public awareness of museums
• training of personnel
• advancement of professional standards
• elaboration and promotion of professional ethics
• preservation of heritage
• combating the illicit traffic in cultural property.

Awards and events

These include the Award for International Relations, International Museums Day and MayDay.

Committees and conferences

A comprehensive range of ICOM international committees and their conferences are held world wide.

Grants and programs

Support is provided for international collaborations and travel. Programs include Blue Shield and the Museum Partnerships Program (IAMPP).

International projects

Individual and institutional members of ICOM Australia are involved in a significant number of international museum projects.
